How do I switch credit cards and not affect my credit score?

credit score
salena asked:

I want to get a frequent flyer credit card but I already have 3 credit cards with generous limits. I don’t need these credit cards and I would like to cancel them and have this “possible credit” to go towards the new card. I heard once that canceling a credit card has a negitive effect on your credit score. Is this true? If so, how do I switch credit cards and avoid affecting my credit score in a bad way?

What Will Canceling Credit Cards Do To My Credit Score?

ExpertRealEstateTips asked:

Which credit cards should you cancel to have the least negative impact on your credit score? Canceling old credit cards that you don’t use anymore shouldn’t have too much of an effect on your credit score as long as the remaining cards are kept to a balance below 50% of your available credit. Your credit score will be higher if you are using and repaying credit, rather than just holding onto some old credit cards.

Will paying off my delinquent credit cards help me or will my credit stay the same?

credit help
Superstar!!!!… to be asked:

I applied for 3 credit cards at about the same time 2 years ago. They all got maxed out, and I never paid any of them after a while, and they got sent to collections. I paid off one, but it didn’t seem to help me any in terms of the score. Will paying off the others help? I need to raise my score, but if paying them off won’t help me I’d rather wait until I had a good paying job to settle them. I am on the phone with one of the credit people now as I type, but I need assistance on what to do ASAP!!! Please help!!!

How can I help my sister rebuild her credit?

credit help
Dena F asked:

My sister recently had her bancruptcy discharged and is now ready to start rebuilding her credit. Would it help her score if I added her to a few of my credit cards? I have superior credit and want to retain it, so, if I do add her to my cards will her negative credit affect mine? Any ideas on how to help my little sis would be very appreciated.

How do I pay off my credit cards and loans if the credit company or the the credit cousenling won’t help?

credit help
chickiechick asked:

I have a debt of close to twenty thousand dollars. This is one credit card and one loan. I owe close to 700 dollars a month for both of these (combined). I cannot pay it and live. They are both through the same bank, but the bank will not help me. They gave me a number to a credit counseling service but it won’t help me either. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want to use a credit settlement service because it supposedly ruins my credit, but it seems to me that my credit is ruined anyway. I need HELP!
